I’ve Been Thinking About You

February 24, 2025

There are times when the tumultuous current of life has me racing down the river, the waves tossing me around, jarring me, and even submerging me for a few seconds. Then, without warning, the chaos of the rapids subsides, and I find myself in still, deep waters. From around the bend, I hear the soothing voice from a familiar Friend who says, “I’ve been thinking about you.” To which I reply, “I’m glad I bumped into you. The last section of the river was pretty rough.”

Then, in that moment, it dawns on me, I guess I had forgotten to think of you, Friend.” I am reminded that when the Lord resides in the forefront of our minds and is clearly etched in our hearts, the storms will calm and peace comes to the waves.

It’s been a week today since I returned from the Monastery. The peace and calm I experienced while on retreat is a reminder that peace is always available to us. It’s a choice I can make to step into still deep waters and soak in the Lord’s peace, because the rivers will always flow down stream.

“However, this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will establish my law in their minds and inscribe it in their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

Jeremiah 31:33
